I have a 1993, 175hp Loop. When running and I hit the up/down on the trim the engine loses RPM.
Any ideas? Wires crossed? Everything looks hooked up OK.
Thanks

check all your battery cables for tightness,,,,, and cleansliness..........

Battery is good, cables are tight. One thing I did notice is the previous owner has the blue wire from the trim motor going to the green wire and the green from the trim going to the blue wire from the relay plug. Would this make a difference?

Blue should be with blue and green with green. The relays just switch the polarity around.
Blue is up (Normal) + is + and - is -
Green is down (reversed) + is now - and - is now +
I had a short in my motor for the trim and it was grounded to the chassis.
If your RPM goes down when you trim, you got a heavy load going on in your motor. Its demanding a lot of current.

Maybe the trim motor is kaput but sounds normal when running up or down. Not sure what would suck all the power.
65mph with a 150hp. Did you have it bolted to a boat or just strapped to your arse and use your feet to steer?

Usually bad grounds on the engine.

A weak stator can cause the motor to lose rpms when the trim is activated. Even though the stator may pass the ohms test, remove the flywheel and inspect the stator visually.
I'll bet there is a pool of melted plastic insulation under the stator from internal arcing or excessive heat generated.
