View Full Version : Yamaha Tech 225 Excel bearing scavenge line question - Fresh rebuilt...

I just finished rebuilding my 225 Excel V-6, and have a concern on the oil scavenge plumbing for the upper and lower bearings. When I tore mine down it had a single hose connecting the upper and lower bearing cavities, with no other "t"s in it.

What I'm wondering is if this is correct, and if so where do the bearings get there lube oil from?

This powerhead had a wasted lower bearing (WAAY wasted), and had transfered some of the finer debris up into the upper bearing cavity, so I "ASSUME" that there is vacumn on the upper bearing that pulls oil out of the lower bearing cavity. Does the lower bearing cavity bleed oil from one of the cylinder chambers, or did the oil injection pump "leak" enough oil to lube everything??? I don't want to have another lower bearing failure!!!!

I also eliminated the oil injection, and just looped the injection port hoses from one port to the other on each carb. Should I get regular vacumn plugs and cap each one off to prevent any vacumn leaks or tranfer between cylinders?? I'm thinking that would be better...
