260 rings can i use chrome rings

can i use pro marine chrome rings on nic cyl i was told you could but would have to change sooner

Yes you can run the chrome rings and likely will never notice the difference. The gold TIN coated rings are chrome with a titanium nitried plating (the gold) YOU CANNOT RUN A CHROME RING ON A CHROME CYLINDER. The nikasil will run a chrome ring fine. We've seen it a lot without any problems.

Your correct about the chrome face under the TiN coating on WIZARD rings . But its my understanding that the OEM TiN coated rings is a ductile steel ring under the TiN plating. Thats the reason the OEM rings tend to "USE UP" the bores when the OEM combo is worn and the ductile material is exposed...I see these rings when worn in excess destroy a plate job VERY QUICKLY...I also agree with you the chrome works OK on Nic/nicom ALL the 1991 - 1993 High Performance coated sleeved 2.5's used chrome rings for years...
