These are 1996 2.5 EFI XR2's. What can you guys tell me about these motors. I can't seem to find much info on them. Would you say they are reliable? How about parts availability? Thank guys....

Someone has been playin with decals - either they arent Xr2's or there not 2.5L. All Xr2's (race or pleasure) were 2.0L

Are they Carb motors?

you'll have to do a little investigating to find out what they are

That's kind of what I thought. I was told they are 2.5 Bridgeport's. But then I saw the pic with the XR2 and was confused. I was thinking they may have been something that was sold overseas for racing. Thanks I'll have to do some more digging.

Bridgeports were 2.4s....although some people say there were a handful of 2.5 made, but mostly, they are 2.4s.

So I'm thinking these are 2.5 EFI's. He did say they are 260hp.

do you have any pics you can post of the powerheads. the 2.5 260's are great motors but are not bridgeports.

they do look like the 260 mota. they are unpainted an they do have the horn on em. they should have nic bores. a quick easy way to check is to take a small magnet, one small enuff to enter the plug hole, on a flexible connector and check to see if they are all nic bores. steel bores and the magnet will stick to em. the nic bores are very hard and the sacrifical part is the rings. the bad side of that is that nic motas have to be re-rung tween 100-150 hours of use. prolonged maintenance can cause sever damage to the bore and piston. but if they are true 260's you got yourself sum bad motas.
