this is my 1967 impala ss my dad bought new....the car sat blown up for 25 years in doors under cover at rabco, and i did a full frame off resto about 6 years ago, and its now powered buy a 540 ci 680hp merlin big block , its a real head turner , the motor is super trick running on 110 octaine with 13/1 compression brodix heads, corilla rods and keith black pistions ,msd 6al , holly dominator, i recently put a 410 rear end in it....also i left the car as a 4 speed ...it sounds great with 4 inch stainless exhaust , stopping under the doors with series 10 single chamber flowmasters talk about loud!!!!!!!! just thought i would share some pictures with u , alot of people on the board have alaways asked it i still had it .

cool....
I had a '68 SS427 black/black Z24 Impala for about 10-12 years... it's listed on the SS427 website..
I liked the '67 dash better than 68

mine had the 8 track multiplex too.. a/c, tilt, cruise, F41, 3.36 posi, bench seat, I got it from original owner who had it 21 years to the day... I put 3.90's in it and built the motor to L72 spec's, shouldn't have done the gears that high... what a cruiser... i've owned about 140 cars and trucks and I miss it, my 69 L78 Camaro, and my 70 Z28 the most, all were original numbers match build sheet cars... never should have sold those....

What ever became of the 427 block from that car?
Those ole' full sized 427 cars were really neat, and not many of em around here back then. That 427 Specific hood is mega-valuable and impossible to replace also, so I wouldn't be havin' any front end incidents with it.
When I was building my '68 427 Biscayne clone I had a set of 4.10's and 4.56's on the shelf, and couldn't decide which one to put in it. Went with the 4.56's............ not a smart move. I wish mine was a real car. I like the rear of the '67's a lot better than any of the rest of 'em from '65 to '69 also.
One of the mysteries of the '67 Impala/BelAir/Biscayne is the fact that for that one year only there was NO 427/425 HP engine offered. They had 'em in '66, '68', & '69, but for '67 the hydraulic lifter/small port 10:1 compression 385 horse was the biggest motor offered in the full sized cars, even though the Corvette still got the solid lifter big port 11:1 427 for '68. Nobody in the collector hobby seems to know why.
I hope you keep that car forever, but if that ever changes I'd like to have a shot at it.

just speculating, but I think the popularity of the L71 in the 67 Vette's wiped out big car engine inventory... ??

Good point. I've recently seen the Corvette guys pay 6 & 8 thousand (and even more in some cases) for a '67 427 block that was dated right for their car. Since the 2 and 4 bolt blocks are the same casting number, and in the case of the 2 bolts, easily changed to 4, the demand is unbelievable, even though they didn't use any 4 bolts in full sized Chevies in '67.
I think if I had the capability that some companies, like World Products (Merlin) has, I'd be running off some "repro" '67 blocks to take care of the demand, much like the guy that's now repopping '67 intakes in both 400 and 435 horse versions.;)

norris , my dad took the original motor , and put it in a flat bottom , and flipped it in platka in 1975 , never recovered the boat or motor .......real smart huh? ... the car will never be for sale , i have all the original stuff for it , including the build recipt , and the bill of sale, owners manual, wheels .etc

Well Clean , Where's the pics of your Clasic/Musle Car , you roll around on weekends , that you built yourself .
There may be more fitting hoods for a Ford Product , but these cars are personal Works of Art . So why take a shot at someone , for having differant taste then yourself ?

Left very easy anticipating blowing the tires off, and with a LAZY 1.8 60ft. The little Mustang " with the cowl hood that I like" went 11.31 @ 123 mph. Only made the one pass and as soon as I get a driveshaft loop in and it cools off a little I'll be doing some tuning. Not bad with a little 255 60 drag radial! Let me know when the Impala wants some :)
