Anyone have any experience on lower unit failure when running
cats with twin outboards .I have heard comments that rapid turning of the wheel can cause extensive damage/breakage of the lower units.

sharp turns can break skegs. It puts alot of stress on things when you turn hard. I can hear the difference in the motor when I turn it hard on my tunnel boat. You know anytime that you run things to extreem it will cause things to wear out faster. It is just one of those things that some body heard and they said it to some one and they head it you know how that gets started. If you turn hard you have a good chance of breaking something but it really doesn't matter whether it is a V- or a tunnel.
