What is a good Substitute for gaskets? Intake, transfer port covers… Permatex and 3M make allot of different stuff. Anyone have any luck using these products instead of gaskets?
Thanks

Is there a reason why you don't want to use gaskets?

I want to drop the reeds farther into the crank case about the thickness of the gasket so instead of milling it $$$ and time I would just remove the gasket and use gell seal or what ever works. Any one know what works?

order 2 of the intake/reed gasket and put the reed cage on the gasket and trace around it and cut it out with an xacto knife changing the blade a few time for a clean cut? thats my 2c anyway ;)

Come on man too complicated. Just buy a big black motor and stop playin with yourself. Leaving gaskets out aint going to do anythin but leak.

If you are so set on not using gaskets then put some 3m 5200 sealer/adhesive in there. It will seal whatever you want but it will be a nightmare if you want to get it back apart again!

They are too susceptible to fuel. I would use GelSeal. That is what the crankcase halves are sealed with on the later model motors.

You know Ronnie any time he can pipe in with the black motor stuff he will. the permitex stuff did not work. But I know there is stuff out there that will (needs to be impervious to gas & oil) My thinking on the whole thing is, on some areas people mill gasket surfaces to increase crank case compression or to change & tighten up areas ( side intake covers) if a type of form a gasket or thinner gasket material can be used you get the same result & still have the option to put the gasket back in if you don't get the result you were after. I will do some research & see if i can't find the correct stuff.
Good luck Rob

Its ok guys... I found out a few different things today and am going to start over... The Rumble motor ran good but I have allot more to do.. SO Im starting on a new motor Block and am just going to have the things machined where I need them and use a gasket..:D :D
