i have a johnson gt 200 1989 the vro pump has been taken off and i put a holly redline pump in place my motor is doggy taken off and will only run about 5100 rpm with a 25renagade prop on a 19 ft 389 javelin 1995 witch only gives me about 58 to 62 mph on gps when i put this boat together about 2 months ago it would run 74 on gps have cleaned carbs and checked compreeion it is 115 psi across the board any help on my top end and hole shot would be great it seems to load up at low speeds easy and also just replaced plugs and engine tunned last week with brp engine tunner thanks for any help

Isn't that hull rated for only 175HP? If so you are overpowered.

If you have a holley pump on there you need to add a fuel pressure regulator and pull the pressure down. Don't know for sure upper or lower limits, but I don't like you need over about 5 or 5.5 psi.

I would be real careful with that boat. That hull set a speed record with a 150 and 175 in its day. With a good running 200, it ought to run well into the upper 70's with ease.

Prop it to turn about 5800 to 6k and you should be in good shape.

Why did you take the VRO pump off?

i didnt take vro off it was off when i got motor friend of mine bought it new and had it on a 20ft hydrostream stripped down and it would run 89 mph and yes my boat is only rated for a 175 but its only 25 hp i would trade my 200 for a good 175 if some one wanted to thou

btw lock jaw i do have a holy fuel pressure regulator on it set for 4.5 and its mounted next to the carbs but thanxs for the help i need all i can get here dont know what the problem is also just ran engine tunner through it this weekend so will try it again on tuesday and let you know thanks again
