Tach on Tower O Power HELP

Hi guys I am brand new to this site and it looks awsome. I need some help here I just put a 1970 Merc tower of power 115 together and it runs great but I have heard that it is near imposable to hook up a tach to the thunderbolt ignition. Is this true? Does any one know how to hook a tach up to this. I really want one on the boat. I want to see if I have the right prop and well they just look dam cool on the helm. Thanks

There should be a tach provision on your control box (its in the front of the control). You need to use a specific tach for the merc inline 6's, and I believe they come with the wire harness with the three prong plug that plugs right into the control box. You can almost certainly find one on ebay or something.

Like Frosty says there is a provision for a Merc factory tach on your control box.

You can also hook up an alternator triggered tach.
