Hi got this merc 150 v6 with the boat changed water pump lower end oil ect.. started it up and no water flow from spitter or through t-stats. pulled it apart and found loads of sand previous owner had sucked up and not flushed. well i removed lower unit again to flush out everything without running it throught the water pump. but when i went to go back together couldnt get the shifter to work right. My friend who was helping said he accidentally pulled the shift shaft in lower unit up a couple inches and tried to put it back in the right spot but now its not connecting with anything. Do i have to disassemble the lower unit to reconnect the shift rod correctly now. Thanks
