I have been a member for awhile, but I have never posted so be gentle!
I have restored a blue stripe T1 Twister. The problem is the throttle arm from the cable to the distributor -- the mount point is gone because of the exhaust log. Does anyone have pictures?

Is this what you are looking for?
I don't have a pic of the arm off to show what is holding it, hopefully someone can describe what it is or have a pic

Not my engine :)
Looks like it's used some sort of bracket for the arm, the arm itself looks stock.

I bet that is encouraging, looks like just a piece of aluminum angle carved out to fit.
I notice the arms are slightly different

I made the bracket to mount the arm , and put short link from arm to dist , but cable to bottom of is to short . I wonder if I should move the bracket that holds the cable end. Help is appreciated. I got picture of T1 steering bar off S&F , built one out of ss . Quite a job , but without your help I was stumped .

I've got several of these motors in their original/unmolested condition, both red and blue striped. Trouble is, it'll be tomorrow or Tuesday before I'm back close enough to one to take pictures. I don't recall the throttle arm being mounted exactly like that on that piece of angle, but in any case, stock cables work fine, so something's outta' whack.

Doesn't the bottom of the arm curve toward the rear of the engine?

Can you shorten the top linkage any more? The throttle cable needs to fit the motor with out alterations. There is some adjustment at the barrel, but that shouldn't be at either extreme of the threads. If you can't adjust it in make another bracket and move the pivot towards the rear of the motor until everything fits.

I went to take a picture tonight and my digital camera crapped out AGAIN. Anyway, I'd already turned the Twister1 back into the corner with the cowl back on and was takin' the cowl off the Twister (red) and noticed the cable bracket, which I'd forgotten. The red motor at least has the bracket welded to the lower pan ON THE OUTSIDE that holds the round drum on the cable that screws on the threads for adjustment. This places the round drum out in front of the lower cowl, which of coures gives it more range. I can't remember if the Twister1 (blue) is that way also, but if so, might be the reason for the lack of range if you're trying to mount that inside the cowl on a std. inline bracket.
I may try cell phone pics tomorrow if nobody else posts one. I was so pissed with the digital camera tonight after I made the trip I just gave up.

Click on the picture that Sam attached to post #2. That bracket in front of the pan was what I was talkin' about. (that mid is actually from a red striped Twister) Does yours have a similar bracket out there? It's a weld on.

Hickory,
The throttle arm bracket can be made from steel or aluminum angle; it bolts in place under the bolts that hold the cylinder & crankcase block castings together. The first picture of Droll's shows it pretty well. It is a simple part to make.

Thanks for the help --- I made a alum sheet extension and seems to work . The best advice was moving the cable connection outside the bottom pan .

Something I noticed tonight that I've never paid attention to before....... Both of my red stripe Twisters have a bracket welded to the lower pan for the cable to mount to OUTSIDE the front of the pan. On both the Twister 1's (blue stripes) there is a bracket that mounts to the side of the block and extends THROUGH the pan for the cable to mount out front. So apparently we have ANOTHER way to distinguish between the Twister and Twister1 if the stickers or cowl may have been changed. This also explains the fact that Merc included a new bottom pan in the Twister to Twister1 upgrade kit which I have new in the box. Until now, I couldn't figure why they included the lower pan, since the kit was intended ONLY to upgrade an existing Twister.

I have photos of completed throttle connection as well as the boat and motor but do not know how to post them to this site.

Here's the best way:
WWW.TinyPic.com (http://www.TinyPic.com)
Click on the link. When it opens hit the "BROUSE" box.
Select the picture from the source in your computer and hit "UPLOAD NOW".
After it completes the upload, pick the URL in the box "FOR FORUMS AND MESSAGE BOARDS".
Copy the URL into the text of your post on Scream and Fly and the picture will open full size.
