Mercury 2.5 carb motor. Cyls 1,3,5 timing set @25*. Cyl. 2 @25* cyl. 4 @27 (4@27) cyl.6 @ 30. Changed the switch box for cyls. 2,4,6 thinking that was the problem but it didnt solve the problem. What other parts could be the problem area.

First thing I would have thought of is trigger and flywheel. But I'm an OMCeaze guy.

Changed the flywheel, didnt solve the problem, changed the trigger still didnt solve the problem, starboard cyls.1 3 5 @25* port cyls.are around 3 to 4* different than starboard, anyone else had this happen and if so what was the solution.

Could be the biyas circut in the switch box. They make the packs do sum crazy stuff.I have seen one pack make the other pack check bad.Recheck the marks first to make sure don't chase a ghost

Probably the bias circuit in the box for 1,3 & 5. If you don't have a known good box, switch the two and see if problem follows box.

Like he says, the bias in one box can fail in a way that it runs good, but fuddles the other one.

Disconnect the bias jumper and check it. If it settles down, it's the other box. Change it even if it looks good, it'll soon let you down.

hope it helps

I find boxes should be changed in pairs to be successful when a bad box is found..
