So they say they are not repairable. But what about having the bad journal turned, hard chromed, then ground back to size. The chrome provides a hardened surface that the needles need to run on. Sounds like it should work. Has this been tried before? Any downsides. The sportjet cranks have a different spline than the standard 2.5 cranks and they are a fortune to buy.

Have you tried Marine Crankshaft in California? They repair cranks with bad journals. I don't think "hard chroming and turning" would work.
