I seem to have what looks like an issue with my hydrocoffin. I was doing a little research a few days ago. I had thought something was strange when I tried to find a rectifier to fit the engine. The Title says it's a `79 Merc 1500 (inline 6), the serial # says it's a `74. I've traced the engine back to 1984, and it's still on a `79 Viking. Is is normal to put a 5 year old engine on a boat and call it new? The only thing I know that has been changed was back in `98 they guy put a bigger jack plate on it, but the engine never changed. from 1984 till now the boat has been in SC - they require separate titles for boats and outboards, so it's been fairly easy to track down. I don't know anything about it from 79 till 84. Surely the engine didn't go belly up in just 5 years...
