Need more info on this boat

I posted this picture a while ago and got some help Identifying this boat as a Verga F-13 I believe. I talked to the owner on it again and he said he reglassed the bottom to strengthen it up. This worried me for 2 reasons. Obviously one is smoothing the bottom back out. The other and biggest worry is the core was possibly rotten. I'd look at it if it were closer, but it's an 8 hr drive to find a possible dud. Can anyone tell me if they even had a core on them? Were they raceboats or pleasure toys? Any more input would be appreciated.

You might be right. The only thing is the price is really right. He's asking 275 for boat, motor, and trailer. But yeah, it does look rough.

Will the trailor make the trip? If the answer is yes i'd say go for it. Rick

That's a '58 model Johnson 30 or 35 twin on it. It'd be a lousy motor for a high perf boat, but some collector would probably pay a hun. or so for it to hang on a stand.

It's a 58 35 hp. I've got a shortshaft merc 80 waiting for it if I buy it.
