Early 1960's Miami marathons. The red boat belonged to Ross Bennett...Bennett Marine. Not sure who owned the motors. My father, Jeff Titus, co-drove it with Jock Horner in the 1963(?) 9-hour at the brand new Marine Stadium. Apparently they didn't finish. The blue boat was a year or two earlier at the 6-hour Pelican Harbor marathon. The black "I" boat was a fiberglass Critchfield Sabre hull that Dad cut-down and put a wood deck on. It was the first of many "Oddjob"s.

I think the Oddjob has a 1968 Merc on it. An "I" class motor would be an 89ci 100 hp
The boat seems to have the required seating for 2 and a windsheild

The windshield was definitely not a requirement...no classes required windshields.

Was late 64 or early 65. Seems like i remember an earlier oddjob. It was an all wood boat i thought jeff built. If i remember correctly, it had a long shaft 100hp merc. Seems like it was blue in color. I think it may have been used as a pleasure boat. Seems like the required seating was 3 not 2. I remember having to open my cockpit slightly at a race in 1965.
You could be correct Jim. Probably 64...before kids. Mark joined us Feb 65...I wasn't "present" until 1967. I think he started driving the Scat Crafts in 68?? He cleaned-up with 16' kneel-down at the 70 nationals in Miami. Was actually leading a 4th class with this Sabre when Wally Hunter hooked into him. There is a sequence of photos of that wreck somewhere.

At one point, OPC required enough space for three seats. A seat was defined as a rectangle of some size--no idea now what size. That must have gone away for the Sport classes as tunnels came in.

Hey Pat, the rule stayed in effect with JP for quite a while, until the class died then the early V Production then Mod VP. Capsules are what did that rule in. Sport classes, tunnels, didn't have the rule.

Hey Ron: The 'Super Bowl' parties at the Titus's in the 60's and 70's were always the BEST! And always a 'Who's Who' of boat racing! Say hi to Jeff and Sally for me----

I had more fun at miami playing at the stadium then racing, I remeber finding a squid under it and I think Ron was the one that made it sqirt out ink, or playing cup-ball, I have some good memories from there, more pics, Matt

Hi Gene! Its been a long, long time! I'm trying to get my folks to go to the OFF gathering. You going? I know they'd like to see you. They are still officiating or attending 10 or 12 races a year. Living in Lake Placid, FL now.

Ha Ha! It was an octopus, but I had nothing to do with it! I need to get my hands on my folks' old photo albums. They are a treasure trove! I converted all of their Super-8 film to DVD a few years ago. There is at least 1-1/2 hours of that.
