A friend of mine has a 1993 Evinrude Intruder 175
We were running it on the lake and it started to miss a little then really started to miss almost like sombody was turning off the ignition switch to 4 or more cylinders, Could it be the power pack? He wants to know so he dosent buy someting he dosent need. Its a splitfire ignition system if that helps any.
Thanks

The Scream and Fly pro's need more info. They can solve most problems if they know all the circumstances. I'm no pro but it sounds like electrical problem but it could also be fuel ... I would Start with the simple things first.. Check the plugs, wires , fuel filters. then check the spark/fire to each cylinder. a process of elimination is the best way to narrow it down.. if no spark then check the power pack.

plugs are new, fuel filters are clean, gas is fresh, it only missfires once its has been running for 10 min or so. it only misses from 3/4 to wide open thorottle, it idles great and runs up to 1/4 well
The miss feels to quick to be fuel related.

hope this helps

is your warning horn working? sounds like it's going into S.L.O.W. mode

Mine was doing the same thing... Check the Volts coming out of the Stator. Then check the grounds for the CDI harness...

It beeps on when the key is turnd on.... I thought s.l.o.w reduced the speed and wouldnt let it come back up to full power. when the motor acts up it will shut sown and kick back in again to full power. or it will just drop a bunch of cylinders. Ive been in boats when s.l.o.w activated and it didnt act like this one does.
Keep them coming, these are all good hints that i will check out tommrow.

I know it sounds like it would have nothing to do with it but also check the shift interupter and make sure that its popping back out once its in gear. I did away with mine and then all of a sudden the key wouldnt turn the motor off completly. You would turn the key off and the engine would only kill one bank. Once I put it back on it ran fine. Weird... So now its hooked up but zip tied to the block and basically bypassed. Might be one of those going bad... Who knows.

:iagree: A poor shift cable adjustment can cause this problem also
