what setback on a jack

I have a 2007 vegas hydrostream with a 300xs merc , I now have the 6 inch setback and need to purchase another jack plate for my sons boat. I like the new atlas plate and am wondering what setback you guys would suggest I buy? My friends here tell me that I should keep the 6 inch because the moter is so heavy. Thanks for your time

I would suggest you contact the builder and see what they reconmend, as your still under some warranty on hull, more than likely 6" is it or you risk breaking the transom..It would depend on if knees were incorporated in the construction.

Thank you I talked to the Hydrostream rep and he confirms what you are saying as all the R+D was done with a 6 inch.
