I have a 89 Mercury Black Max 200hp. I had it on the lake two weeks ago and it never missed a beat but i took it out yesterday and it never would start. it cranks great but doesnt seem to get fire at all. i cleaned plugs and took them out and they have fire. What could be the problem? any advice appreciated!

Maybe look at kill switch OR the in line fuse at the starter silonoid area..

First off welcome to SCREAM & Fly.
When you cleaned the plugs were they wet ?
have you cked for fire.?was it a strong blu or was it yellow orange ?
Did your engine get wet ?cleaning after you were done/swammped/etc etc.
you will know if your getting a ton of fuel into the cylinders.start with all the basics before we get into cking and trouble shooting the ignition system.there is a ton of knowlodge in here so tell us what you find out and someone will have the correct answer.

Isolate ya kill system....Black wire with yeller stripe...If it fires with this system unhook'd from ya system, U could have a bad ign switch, kill switch, or short to ground in your harness...

Use a remote starter, and unhook your big plug on tha side ov tha mota...this will eliminate your harness, and in bote wire'in...If it still don't fire, U know it iz your engine electrikle system, and not tha bote...If it haz no fire on ANY cyls's with harness unplugg'd, I would look at tha stator...Juss my unprofessional opinion...
