if i was to make a alloy sleeve and get it nicasiled what type or grade alloy would be best to use?

IMO either 4140 or 8630. Some machinist refer to it as 1 1/4 chrome or 2 1/4 chrome. We used to use it in the manufacture of steam recripicating pump piston liners.

Better to just query the engineers from the firm that will do the coating. Mahle for Nikasil or US Chrome for Nicom. There are some other smaller firms, maybe somone local to NZ.
Two strokes all seem to use aluminum alloys for plated bores because of the improved heat transfer. But I have seen reports that plenty of iron bores are also plated for other types of racing.

Millennium Technologies also does NSC (Nickel Silicon Carbide) coatings.
