I notice a lot of boats have jack plates . This rookie would like to know would a plate work on a Tunnel ? This boat I purchased has holes and markings that at one time it had a jack plate. Would a jack plate help with hole shots? top speed? I know they look good :D Thanks in advance

Yes for engine height adjustment alone. Tunnels usually don't need the setback but you have to be able to adjust your engine height for load, prop, conditions, etc. You can get a good adjustable plate for $300 or less.

Jackplates don't help with holeshots but do help as Wizard mentioned. They also help balance the boat by shifting the engine weight rearward. Holeshots can be improved with prop work or by using a planing plate.
Use a good sealant when installing the plate, not silicone but a product like 3M 4200. Also if you plan on messing with engine heights be sure to install a water pressure gauge.

Thanks Wizard and Riverman............... I installed a Bob's big foot and have also installed a water pressure gauge. Guess it wouldn't hert to install a 4" or 6" plate . I have been revamping the boat and this Sunday looks like the day to go play.
Thanks

They are stout but I am partial to the on the water adjustability of the Rapid Jack by Hydrodynamics. They also come powdercoated to your special color!

From Nac, just moved to Ark. for work. Rattlesnake a good time, and always a good hand full of outboards there. Went last 4th of july, with mine, there was a couple of 300 drag stv's there.

I live off 103 east about 7 miles of Etole , about 3 from water, Yet down south were Rattlesnake is water is much nicer north end lots of stumps.Did you ever take the rocket to the river off 63 towards Jasper? Ive got to go check it out lots of Drag racing there. Some of my customers told me about it. Ole Nac we cruise the harley's up to Sports Shack and have a few cold ones from time to time.
