Merc 2.4 ID

I bought a 2.4 from a buddy.The ser # on mid is 85D874.Do Not have motor # yet.This motor has 1 pc exhaust with pyro probes.The exhaust chest is highly ported as is the intakes ports. It has WH-15 carbs.It has alum flywheel and nitrous and has 1 pc heads(casting #18789-c3) .The block is black but it has been painted(it has red oxide primer under the black so I know it is not factory).The mid is drilled on the bottom and it has a small shaft sportmaster.The motor came on a late 80's yellow and orange STV river racer that came from Lexington,Ky area a few years ago and was supposed to have been drag raced.Can anyone shed any light on this engine?Thanks.

Sounds like a 2.4 MODVP motor from the mid 80's. If that's what it is, it was 220 hp from Merc. Good, strong, dependable engines.

Anyone have a clue what this engine is??

It is a 2.5 block. The bore is 3.5 +.030.It has Wiseco 3024-3 pistons.I have not pulled it apart yet but build date is 1-29-96.# on front half is O1581022. Only # on block is 2329 and the letters CC. This on the block right by the # on the front half.
