I've been told the 7 pedal reeds are only better if you are going to run over 7500 rpm or so. I've tried both in the 7000rpm range and saw no improvement. But that's limited experience.

At least I moved this back to the top.

10% loss of power!! Been there and done that, It doesnt work! I did that to mine and had cut cages crossdrilled intake modified exhaust with stock ports 150lb heads and it killed the engine !! I spent alot of time trying to figure out what was wrong with it and then went back to 5 pedal cut cages and crossdrilled intake and shazam, it picked the 600 rpm's that it lost right back up !! The only thing i can figure is the little motor just cant pull that much volume and the air becomes very lazy ""fuel would pudle up, motor would load up!! They only made the 2.4 production motor with the 7 pedal for 1 or 2 years 81 82, it was called a 225, ""more like 150"" and they went back to 5 pedal except on the bridgport efi i believe !
It might work if you are gonna run 200lbs compresion to help pull that big 7 but i wouldnt waist my time !! STAY WITH THE 5 !! TUG

PS Mine turned 8300rpm with 2.1 gears and 26 pitch with 5 pedal front half and reeds, went to 7 pedal reeds and front half and all i ever saw was about 7600rpm with same gears and prop !! TO MUCH VOLUME IN CRANKCASE !!

My thoughts exactly. Unless you plan on spinning it over 7000 stick with the 5 pedal reeds.

WHAT I FOUND WORKS BEST FOR ME WAS A SEVEN PETAL FRONT HALF WITH FIVE PETAL REEDS. JUST MY TWO CENTS.
