I've got a blown 2.4 horizontal reed engine that I'm going to use the front half, reeds and carbs on another engine. Split the crankcase on the other engine with no problem. This one doesn't want to split. Found the 2 recesses on the CC, have pried with pry bars, screwdrivers, hammer, etc. Have one end just barely split on one side. It's a crome bore - I'm guessing never been opened. What's the next step to getting this apart????
Thanks, Rick!

Dont take this wrong, but are you sure ALL of the bolts are out?
Do you have both of the end caps off, (or the bolts out at least) ?(top and bottom)

Yes, both end caps are off, and I can find any more bolts to get off. Not sure if this is a salt motor, or even matters. Any chance that the loctite on the block is just not giving up?? I'll double check the bolts, but think I have them all. thanks

The sentiments and brain dead are exactly on. Spoke with Jay yesterday about another matter, and he reminded me about the number of bolts that I should have in my hand. Guess what - when I went home and removed the 4 bolts on the inside (long 3") she came apart easily. I guess this is what happens when you can't see the forest for the trees!!!
Thanks S&F and Jay for bailing me out again!
