Anyone know if a hole in the side of my 2001 225 Optimax can be repaired? The hole is the size of a piston rod...as seen in the last pic with the rod still in it..Here are a couple of pics...any help is greatly appreciated..

Some holes aren't much fun. Who is Ruck and does he work on OMC? I hvae a little hole myself. Notice where the crack extends back to the jug.

Oh, no wonder I had to drive in reverse all the time :p
Anyway the only $30 front half I saw in Misc. parts was for a 3.0

3.0, 3.3, same thing. Non E-Tec, of course.

Hidin a couple of cylinders in that pic:D:D You can still fix it. I've got one I fixed with Devcon and it works fine. And I've got one that's been welded. How bad is the crack in the block?

unbolt the rod through the hole, get a new piston/rings, clean up the hole with muratic acid/hone install new piston, bolt rod back up use calibrated eye ball torque wrench, devcon the hole up, clean the carb and go boating :D :D :D :D :D :D :p :p :p

This may sound dumb so I apologize now....but what is devcon? Is it some kind of filler?
Thanks,

The hole isn't really what I was worried about It's the crack. It goes through and back and pushed out a bit where the two mating surfaces are, worse than the picture shows.

No need to unbolt anything:D The rod and bolts are already at the bottom of the lake. And no need for a new piston either, that mearly got sent to the top of the cylinder minus most of the rod. It actually ran pretty good on 7 once all those stupid parts got out of the cranks way. I just need to seal the hole and run on 7..This is going to be easier than I thought :p:cheers::p:thumbsup:
