#190 belonged to Bill Seebold, but that doesn't look like his name on the boat. Possibly a boat owned by Seebold that someone else raced for him for some reason. Possibly just that the Merc factory was not allowed to own the boat. The motor is a T2. Twistercraft boats were made when Seebold and Molinari had a falling out over Seebold appearing to be getting slower boats than Molinari made for himself while racing on the same team. Merc dropped Molinari and kept Seebold. Seebold's win record improved; you can fill in the spaces as you like.

Please post more of the pictures.

a couple of ideas: photo 3 #204 homer greene, #122 mark haupner or one of their hulls. photo 2 #190 thought that was bill seebold, writing on side says "world champion mercury racing team". these pictures all look like they were taken at lake maggorie in st. pete. were i live now. my guess on the #22 is gary peacock? just a shot in the dark really!

Lets start with how many were made.....probably less than 2 dozen. Just a wild guess I'd say fewer than 6 probably still exist.

Old race boats don't get a very honorable retirement. Second chances are even fewer.

I think Brian is correct. I was trying to read someone's name where it says "World Champion". That makes 190 Bill Seebold's boat fer sher.

The boat in pic 8 has Italian colors and is a Molinari, but I thought Renato used number 554.

I've been planning on making a database of racer's names and boat numbers, but haven't gotten around to it.

Look at pic #11 and you will see the boat name "Flying Fowl" I don't remember it, but its probably the clue to the owner.

never saw a reply about boat #22-flying fowl-gary peacock.

330- ? -hauptner
middle boat 486?- ? -McCall

photo#8 had to be a hotshoe at that time. note it is a picklefork molinari w/ twister 2 in or about '72. not just any squid would have had access to that kind of rig. 699 not his # in that day but I'm still leaning toward renato molinari or maybe one of the westcoast hotdogs of that era they usually ran some of the higher boat #'s. any guess mr. hill?

photo#12 104-Fred Van Wagoner-Van Wagoner

I got some help from dad on a couple of these, but he did not have a good guess at the 699 driver.don't know if this info really helps but it was fun doing a little digging anyway.

Trying to fill in the gaps...picture #5 may be Charlie Hillard ( bought the boat from Bert Serra ) Kitson copy of a Milesmaster. Picture #8 is Bob Spaulding it's a 19ft Molinari pickle fork. Picture 11 is a Van Waggner boat 147 rings a bell, but can't get the name. Picture #11 is of course, Gary Peacock. Feeble memory precludes any more comments. Hope it helps.

The McCall in picture #7 is a mystery to me. All the boats in the picture appear to be E production rigs with 3cyl 49 ci Mercurys. I never knew John had built any production class v-bottoms. At the time I got out of that class in 1974 it was pretty much an OMC show. I went back to running a 44ci 50 on my v-bottom McCall for a couple of years but never saw that boat at a race.

Hey Gene - next time we get together and Redbird is there, lets stick some duct tape on it and make it a proper restoration!
