Just picked this thing up and I think it's a 200. Anything you could tell me about the engine or midsection from these pics would be greatly appreciated. I know the lower unit looks like S#!t. I see there was a hole in the block that has been epoxied. Tha sticker on the cowling read Blackmax MERC formula 1. Was that just a decal or does it distinguish anything? Thanks guys.

the serial on the clamp is 6c10150 as good as I can tell but it is very faded.

It is a 2.5 for sure. Post the date on the block near the top close to the timing arm.

Would also be before 2000 with that ignition and heads unless they have been changed.

So I guess that would make it a 96 model. SWEET!
Thanks Wrenchin:thumbsup:

Wow, you did a real good thing to pick that boat up!

You have a 2.5 200 efi from 96 there. That's a good engine for that boat!
Should be moving!

The block is a carb 2.5 (won't know hp until you look at the exhaust port, 200 doesn't have the releifs)

Laser inj is 92/?? (great for torque)

Lower looks like a coned CLE??? (custom inspection covers)

But the nice find here is the jack plate. Streams ran better with the motor close to the transom

I have a cut cleaver that was the chit back in the '80's for those hulls. If you decide to run the boat let me know and I can send it to you to have a copy made.

Why do you think it is a Carb???? I know the later EFI didn't put the bleeders in the cylinders. I have a 93 175 EFI That has the bleeders. Just curious.

Well guys, I finished redoing my house so now it's time to get my Vector project right. I pulled the lower unit and powerhead this morning and I found some suprises. Looks to have an aftermarket tuner, the midsection is drilled nicely for exhaust relief, and someone has massaged ( or hacked) the adaptor plate and exhaust ports. Well I was hoping to use this to run as a stock 200......... Looks like that's not gonna happen. I'm gonna start tearin into her in the morning more pics to follow.

Rex you right about the damn chisel.:nonod::nonod: Nuttin a little sanding roll can't fix. Well here it is fellas. The #6 cyl looks to have had water in it at one time or anutha. All the rest look pretty good. The front half of the intake has been cleaned up as you can see in the pictures, Got sum carbon reeds. I'm not sure if the tuner is aftermarket are not now that I looked at it a little more, What do ya'll think? I know the picture sucks. Well not to bad for 12 food stamps:D:D I need to find more deals like this.

looks to me like the exhaust chest has been worked a little too. rex would know for sure. looks a little smooth for a stock 200. can you get a measurement on the exhaust ports measuring down from the deck.
