Took my Avenger out for the 1st time since the test drive when I bought it . Today I got to see what it would really do ... I am so happy ... What a really nice boat . I put a new impeller before I went out . What I noticed was it took a few seconds before it started pissing out water . Then it sputtered for a couple minutes before it was a steady stream . Is this normal ? I am used to my Evinrude pissing steady immediately . Dave

Hi, and welcome
On a Merc, the telltale stream all comes from the drain line after the thermostats. You won't get any until it warms up to operating temp and the t-stats open. Then it'll usually sputter for a bit.
When you launch, look around and make sure it's peeing before you mash the throttle. That way, you'll avoid the dreaded cold seize problem.
hope it helps
