mercury shifting problem

just installed a powerhead, made sure it was in nuetral, went to hook up shift linkage and prop spins freely, any easy fix without dropping lower unit ?

i'm assuming you got all your linkage hooked up and when shifting the gearcase doesn't change from neutral. sounds like you didn't get the shift shaft lined up. does the shifter move freely throughout it's range

dropped the lower, pin had come out of shaft, ps. should see all the goodies I found inside prop exhaust, including an entire wrist pin, thanks again
