David Potter hailed from Seattle Wash. he was part of the Mercury Factory Team effort in the early 1970's, click here (http://www.gosee.tv/boatracing/mercury-race-team-action-parker-az-1975.html) for some behind the scene clips from Parker 1975. Dave passed away from cancer in 2006 - I was lucky to be in his pit crew on occasion and was best man at his wedding. He was a class act all the way, big, strong, fast and funny - I miss him. Mark Benson and I will be producing many more films that we shot during the hay days of OPC racing in the Northwest, stay tuned!

WOW thats some rare footage I really enjoyed that Nick. Great of you to share some history of David Potter. You have a good narrator voice:thumbsup: Its nice to have explanations of what were seeing. It makes it mean more when ya know what your looking at. Those looked like very spectacular times and the importance of those days to our sport today is paramount. If not for you pioneers like David pushing the envelope we wouldn't have the safer fast boats we all enjoy so much today.

In the late '60's & all of the '70's, we used to race OPC, all over the Pacific Northwest. That means races in Portland, Oregon - Seattle, Washington - & Vancouver. British Columbia, Canada. One of the guys I met was, Dave Potter (# 226), from Seattle,Washington. The "biggest thrill", is going to "The Parker 7 Hour Enduro", at the start the "Racing Season". Single Outboard, Dual Outboard, KT Class, Inboard V & Flat-bottom, & Jet Drive - all for "7 Grueling Hours!" One of Dave's co-drivers was the late Kenny Stevenson, in the early '70's & eventually, Lee Davies (# 482), from Vancouver,British Columbia, Canada, took over the co-driving duties. Along with Dave's dad, Les, we used to hang out with Bert Serra, Brett May, Earl B., Reggie Fountain & many other racers. Those were "The days", my friend!

"VIDEO - In Memory of David Potter # 226", is a good example of a video about a, "past boat racer who is no longer with us!" Dave & his dad, Les, from Seattle, Washington, were US # 1 many times, because of racing nearly every weekend for points, from spring 'til Fall, in the Pacific Northwest. From the late '60's 'til the late '70's, Dave raced at Havasu & Parker, nearly every season! In this video, you see the likes of # 457 Bob Herring/Renato Molinari (700 miles in 7 hours of Parker in '75), # 190 Bill Seebold, # 241 Earl B. Hopefully, some of these fore mentioned guys, might possibly be in attendance, at the Old Farts Forever 2010 Reunion, on Oct 7-10 in Jupiter, Florida.

"Video - In Memory of David Potter # 226", is the 1st Tunnel Boat Racing video, produced out of the studios of GoSeeTV, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Nick Springate (Manager- GoSeeTV), actually produced the video to be played at Dave's funeral, when he sadly passed away in 2006. Most of his friends & family, who attended his funeral, had no idea of the high level of Tunnel Boat Racing, in which he was involved in the 60's-'70's & '80's. This video was the "spark", that gave us the idea to start the "Collection and Preservation of Factory Outboard Tunnel Boat Racing History", for future generations to enjoy! Nick is presently in France, interviewing "the infamous", Jackie Wilson. Jackie, has been kind enough to loan us the 8mm film, he has accumulated over his "illustrius boat racing carreer", to be converted to DVD, to document powerboat racing in Europe, since the '60's! Jackie, is apparently journeying all the way from France to attend the Old Farts Forever 2010 Reunion in Jupiter, Florida on Oct 7-8-9 & 10! If he can make that kind of effort, & you live in or near Florida, you should do whatever needs to be done, to attend OFF2010. You'll be glad you did!
