Greg what can you tell us about calibrating monitors. I have a Dell 22” UltraSharp 2209WA (http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=CADHS1&sku=320-7825) and want to know if it’s worth buying a calibration kit? If so do you have any experience with the Spyder2express (http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-mc-s2e.php)?

calibration is really required. the differences between the color on the screen and what you actually took is surprizing. esp the difference when printed. on the last note be sure to get a calibation system that includes printer cal as well. iuse the spyder3 studio. its about 500.

Hi Casey, I'm sorry I haven't seen this post - I should check this forum more.

I think the Dell Ultrasharp monitors are great - I use Dell monitors myself. Yes, calibration is extremely important, especially if you sell prints. The Spyder3 Pro should be more than adequate - and it runs about $170. Even the basic software solutions can be good enough, and I think some of those are free.

i went with the basic Spyder2express and really like the results i'm getting. before my prints never looked the same as what i saw on my monitor, now they do.

i order all my prints from smugmug.
