A previous owner of my 18 lavey did away with the factory pylon and canvased over the hole. I bought a new pylon from Dana marine and a finishing ring for the back set, but I'm not certain how to secure the pylon in the mount. Since the pylon goes through the back seat it is imposible to use a pin.

Any ideas of how I can secure the pylon in the existing mount?

reroute that fuel line before using your pylon for sure.
if you flip the bottom cushion up is there a way to reach back in there with out tipping the seat frame forward? is there even a hole in the support tubing from the old pylon?

one way is to make an access under the bottom cushion and youll just have to reach back and pin it.

I am assuming that you can't get to the under side of the pylon mount when the seat is down....
I wonder if you can put a bolt all the way thru the boat mount, and then cut grooves into the pylon shaft so that it goes in and must be twisted 90* to lock itself in,, kind of like how a 1156 automotive taillight bulb is twisted in and locked in...then once it is attatched to the pylon support rods it wont be able to turn its way back out... just mt $0.02

In both Laveys that I have had all you needed to do was to set the pylon in place and the weight of it caused it to stay in the holder. Of course they do weigh 50+ lbs when they come with the boat.

Just my experience, hope it helps.

Ya, what he said. On what I'll call the California drop in ski pole's that I've used, you drop them in and go. The only way it's coming out is if you lift it out or turn the boat upside down.

On yours I don't see a bottom mount on the floor which I would think you'd need????????
