so i am kinda new to wrenchin on PCs (specifically Building them)....i have always tinkered with my store bought HPs and Dells...hell i even replaced all the capacitors on my HP Motherboard last month....so the HP that needed a ReCap was about 5 years old and i knew it was time to replace it but i didnt want standard store bought mostly due to the fact that I HATE VISTA..... well after shopping around i found that you really cant buy a decent Dell or HP and have XP installed at the factory so i figured why not....i managed to barter, trade, craigslist, ETc and get killer deals on pretty much every part in it and wound up spending next to nothing out of my pocket...

pics show only 2 hard drives as this was prior to the RAID 10 setup with all 4 drives....(just started that last night)

i have to say this was a ton of fun so far....kept me pretty busy over the past couple of weeks gathering parts and building and setting it up...

what i have into it and what it would cost to build are two totally different thing...LOL...i made all kinds of trade and barter deals with people on other forums and friends and wound up only laying out about $200.00 cash from my pocket....to build it if you had to buy all the parts and everything probably about $1500.00-$2000.00 with the monitor, keyboard, mouse and all......

Looks really good George. Why do you hate Vista? I've found Vista SP1 to be one of the best operating systems I've ever used.

Very nice looking. Thats the first PC I've seen that didn't look like the wires and control cables are wire tied. Usually they look like a birds nest in there.

Thanks guys....

Greg...i have vista on my laptop and its buggy as can be...i am constantly messing with it....from all of my research prior to setting this thing up i got 50/50 reviews...it doesnt network well with the rest of my house which is all XP based and i happen to own a few legit copies of XP so i didnt have to buy an OS...maybe i just got a bad one but the concensus seems to be that Vista isnt the best....maybe i will try and get my hands on a copy of Vista and dual boot the machine to see if i just got unlucky with my lappy...

That is droolworthy!

Interesting idea placing the power supply down the bottom to make room for extra fan on the top. Great idea!
