I have the ultra light silvers in mine. I bought my antenna right from Rex marine where I ordered my GPS.

:iagree: Yep try Rex's. When I bought mine, they had a white puck type, or a black bubble type. Both work the same. Be careful with the wiring. It's very fragile.

You can get a Garmin for about $100.00 directly from garmin. Mount it under the deck in a foam box and it will be out of the way and work great.

How do you hook up a GPS speed-o up to the handheld?
Is that what you ar saying.....to use the handheld as an antenna?

Is this the port on top of the, Garmin Legend, (for example) that you can use to power thru the cig. lighter? (or down load maps I guess?)

no, its usually part of the wiring harness that also includes the power/ground wires, ck the owners manual that came w/ the garmin, i know w/ the 400/2000/3000 series garmins this is where the wires for nema in/out would be

the Gaffrig and or Livorsi and others use a garmin 35. they are actual gps and not antenthe nas. the garmin 18 may work but im not sure.
the only gps that i "know" works with smart craft are the garmin 45and mono street pilot. i did try 45 plus. v, v plus, garmin 35.... they all do not work. the smart craft [atleast the 2004 version] needs a 2 digit nmea speed out put from the gps. the newer gps even when they say their 2.0 nmea have 4 digit speed sentences.

Allright Heres the deal "and thanks for all the input" the autometer gps speedo looks to be the same as the livorsi. the blue wire from my garmin 440 hooked to the antenna wire of the speedo works. You must have NMEA set to output. I'm sure most of the other garmins "newer" will work the same. Thanks for the help! Max.
