Hello,

I was thinking about relieving the exhaust on my X-Flow 235. I mainly want to do it so it sounds more throaty, but I'm worried about losing all of my low end torque, especially pushing my Checkmate.

If I do this will I lose all my hole shot and only gain .02 MPH top?? :D

Thanks,
SpeedDemon

and it took away a little low end but helped up top a little. not real noticeable improvement in perf.

sounds real cool if you can get the exhaust relief out of the water.:D

may not be an improvement but it makes me feel like im cooler.

the holeshot perf i heard can be helped out by advancing the idle timing. i havent tried this yet but tonight might be an opportunity. ill let you know.

Brett,
Back in the early 80's, my brother and his buddies were relieving the exhaust on those 2.6 crossflows. They were punchin' holes here and there.......sounded purdy mean. However, the motors then ran like crap. I relieved the exhaust in my Merc, and wish I hadn't...........idles like crap, no hole shot, and my passengers in the back seat are annoyed by the sound. I can guarantee the same results for you. It's your rig now, do what ya want, but take my advice and leave that bulletproof crossflow alone. Find a nice 3.0L looper motor (not a GT) and fiddle with that one. Your current power is never really gonna do more than it's doin' right now, and fooling with the exhaust will detract from it's performance. Go ahead and set the motor back 6 to 10 inches, turn the key and enjoy a fun 65mph ride. Anytime ya wanna drag that thing back down here, I'll install that jackplate for you in no time flat. Maybe then you'll be able to catch up to my Starflite!
