Has anyone ever heard of a "Stallion hull" ? Its 21', closed bow & looks kinda like a Superboat or maybe a Rally Sport, but does not have a pad in the back & has very little freeboard (set up for a single outboard). I found one in Ocala that needs stringers & a floor for $1500 with a trailer. It looks like it could be fast, but I am looking for a little input before I buy. THANKS

There is one on here for sale I thought I saw somewhere. I've seen them before very cool looking, looks fast sitting on the trailer!!

it is a closed bow Gambler. Nice for their time, but contain wood as you have already seen.

Completely up to you as to whether the work is worth it, but they were cool when I was running with them in my Laser 380.

May be competitive with older Hydrostream and Laser type boats, but certainly not against Allisons.

I agree to a point with you, I was taking it to a Allison ALL last summer in my Gambler Stallion/Supersport. I believe the Aly was a 2001 bass model w/ a moified 225 promax..................that being said the guy couldn't drive the damn thing.........a win is a win in my book.

I'm sure by this summer he'll be handing me my A$$..........

if boats could race themselves we would just be on the shore watching. If the driver can't drive, he loses.

Actually, I like winning against the person that should not have come up against me to begin with.

Oh, but I sold my boat, I don't race anymore.

Just to clarify the different models .

Back in the mid 80's a company called Martec in Orlando produced stallions and a bass boat called the gambler.

Bob Ackerbloom was the guy.

They had a 21' model which is a splash of the Challenger/Shadow. They called it 6.2 meter Offshore.

I bought one in 1986 right from the factory, it was a great boat, sold it 2 years ago.

They also had an 18' model which was a Mod vp bottom. don't know the name it went by, but they were fast little boats at the time.

They also made a small bass boat called Gambler. I think these were around 18' . I remember when I was there they were showing me work they were doing on the bottom, they were still playing with the bass boat.

If anybody knows how to upload a PDF file to here, I have the 1986 Powerboat Magazine review of the 21' boat.

Does this look like one???:confused:This boat was also built in south florida in the 80's, from molds known as the Scorpion 21. I believe they may have been origially tooled & produced, by, of all people, Thunderbird/Formula Boats, in the late 60's, early 70's.

Thanks.I'd be surprised if you found anything more on them. They were just one of many, many, low volume warehouse boat companies that were in business here is south florida back in the 80's. In the OMC(sterndrive) literature for 1969, a Formula brand version of this boat was given a full page photo, in an I/O version, jumping extremely high out of the water, off another boats wake. The boat was blue in color, with the very blonde girls long hair blowing backwards at high speed. In the early 90's, while buying a new car at my local GM dealer, my salesman said he at one time owned Scorpion Boats. Theres your history! lol

we are talking warehouse. I visited the Orlando Gambler place, and it just impressed as a place that would be gone soon.

Also was not thrilled with their manufacturing processes.

I have a 21'Stallion 6.2 meter offshore and tandem axle trailer. It was made by Page enterprises from 1985 to 1992 I think. Original motor was a Black Max 200hp but the hull is rated up to 270hp. Very nice boat and yes it does look like it is flying just sitting on the trailer. Well worth restoring.

mr Ackerbloom got his feet wet in the biz working for Marvin Hurst of orlando at Hurst boats, in the 70's. I've always been impressed by his success, he had the stallion, gambler, and now sterling flats boats. he got a contract with Toyota at one time when they tried to get into the skiboat biz to compete with correct craft and master craft, because of his fit and finish. I always admired the backseat arrangemant on the stallion as a wraparound bench. 1500.00 seems a bit steep these days, I'd lowball it as few people these days want to do anything more than write a check. fun out ps, https://www.google.com/search?q=sterling+flats+boats&hl=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=HeKXUYzxLpPY9AS0gYGgBA&sqi=2&ved=0CF0QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=602

My buddy has 2 of the 18 foot race ones. One closed bow, one open, kind of like a center console bassboat. Very light, I think the CC one was 600 pounds. It was a tunnel, and it was sure fun to drive with a modded Johnson GT2.6.

Unless the Stallion you mentioned is a different model than my own ( 21ft or 6.2 meter ) the wrap around seat you mention must have been custom. The Stallion 21 outboard came with a very simple bench seat across the back.

It was an option. I had a 1986, I took the simple bench seat, (I'm just a simple guy:D)

The wrap around was an option.

Do you have a picture of yours.

yes it was an option, i have the orginal broshure from when mine was purchased new and it shows all the different options for outboards and inboard models. the wrap around seating style was super sweet but eliminated all gunnel storage. ill try and get a pic if i remember and upload so yall can see, its pretty neat. nice boat frank, looks super slick..what kinda speeds you seeing with the xs? and what prop?

I think I saw the article. Wish more people would post pictures of theirs. Wonder how many 21 footers were built. I think Paige Industries or enterprises built a very limited number of these in Utah.
