Should break 80, hoping for 85. That should be fast enough for this year:rolleyes: Has the fleetmaster gearcase with low water pickup. Got it from Albany, freshwater, off a bassboat. Gotta oeder some decals from Wildman. Gonna remove the oil injection. How often can you spend less and go faster:p

and your gonna love it for a long time. 3.0 liters are great motors capable of 3000 + hrs. I don't agree with removing oil inj. why? They are proven and it's so easy to just put a gallon it the tank every month or two.

Mike,
Mechanically it seemed fine. Talked to the dealer in Schenectady that serviced it annually. I came close to buying it, it was priced fairly, but with the state of the economy, I thought I could make a lower, but ballpark offer. While negotiating via email, you bought it . I should have, it was really clean, but I've just had some big expenses, so I was gunshy. Maybe I'll hold out for a 300PM!
Best of luck with it, look forward to seeing what it does on your SB.

The economy is tight. I actually bought it for alot less than they are going for and what he was asking. And it was a freshwater motor. I couldn't pass up the deal on this looking at what 300 Promaxs are going for. ;) And he delivered it down here to me. BTW, I hope to come up to Lake George this summer with it.

The oil injection on these motors are very reliable, but nothing is more reliable then mixing it yourself, plus you save 20-30 pounds without the oil tank :D

I pulled my oil injection off my 04 250 too. My 300x ecu didn't communicate well with injection system. I also liked the weight savings and also freed up some room in my rigging hoses. Not to mention now I moved my battery to the other side where oil tank was. I hope to be much more balanced this year. I'm not quite sure how it all pans out with the ecu/smartcraft but I think a portion of the oil pump that plugs into the ecu must remain ?! and you can jumper your remote tank wires so you don't get a low oil warning.
Good Luck,
Let me know if there's anything else you need to do or don't do !!

i have a 250 EFI with 270 hours... compression is perfect all across, never a hiccup, all stock
BUT... a gallon in the tank every month or two? GOD do i wish that was the case.... i burn thru 1-2 gallons of oil per WEEKEND... i find that mine is VERY thirsty (both fuel and oil).... no wait let me rephrase... INSANELY thirsty :nonod:

Try a larger diameter prop. Mine burns twice the fuel with my turbo prop. I run all weekend on $60 to $70 with my 25p tempest plus.

Being your dial finger is busted we can talk through S&F. Joe was saying that with the water pickup in the bullet we should be able to set it up right. I picked up a 12" Stainless Marine setback. If need we can add 2" spacers. Joe is saying that I will need a 30" wheel to keep it off the rev limiter. What do you have in inventory? I want to test the "right" wheel before I buy. Hopefully it can get rigged before the weekend.

I have a 1998 250 efi and it went 78 against the rev limiter with a 27 trophy, in fresh water, prop 1" below pad 40 gal of gas and every other excuse in the book. I would think his SB is lighter than my Challenger so that is my uneducated guess. Now I have solid mounts, 300x tuner and exhaust plate, a notch, new reeds and a 6400 rpm cpu. So Im hoping for 85.:D
PLUS everyone know the Long Island boats are faster than the Jerzy boats
