View Full Version : WTH is up with kids these days???
So I'm at the dentists office waitin to be seen and in walks a mom with her 13ish daughter. The girl seems to be goin out of her way to impersonate Paris Hilton with her tude and embelished persona. They are askin about teeth bleachin and the ways to disprese the gel etc The Dr comes in with a syringe type device and explains the amount in this syringe should last all week. The daughter in her best overly dramatic and fake hiltonesque voice says "OMG is that a needle?" Now a 6 week old fetus could tell that there was no needle on it but it was a applicator that looked similar to a hypodermic. The nurse says "oh no, it's just a syringe" and the girl replies "Oh good, I have a needle phobia" as if she was now the coolest person in the room for admittin that.
Everyone acted as if this was totally normal and no one made light of this nit wits moronic revealation. What the hell are people thinkin? I'm so tired of the fake "we're millionaires and so fabulous attitude" here in Naples, makes me ill and it's all I can do not to snap and scream at people how ignorantly foolish they appear to normal people. UGH

I'm surprised that the above mentioned situation even surprises you.
No doubt man, it's hard to put into words exactly the type of behavior I see around here, but it's unreal. It's like the more supposedly afflicted these morons are, the cooler they are. The news is even messed up here in Naples, they all act like they are all movie stars and millionaires. It's all such a overly fake act, but they all seem to continue on with it anyway.

NNT,
I feel your pain. Maybe the one good thing about Obama driving the economy down the drain is that we'll all be acutely aware that NO ONE has a pile of money to waste on ungrateful kids thus negating the possibility of illusion. Maybe out of boredom they'll read books...count ants...shut up and be grateful for a meal and shelter.
Yea a solid 10 years of this might drive some common sense back into people and their kids. The thing that really irks me is how you can tell it's all an act, but they continue on with it as if that makes them appear cooler. I have heard teeny boppers complain that daddy bought them a "pos mustang" instead of a bmw or benz like the "normal" kids at school have.

Personally, I think shows like SouthPark, the Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. don't set a very good example for our kids. In fact, I can't think of many shows that are good for kids to watch.

Those shows (maybe with the exception of Simpsons) arent meant for kids, theyre directed at young adults. Its the parents job to control whats on their kids tv sets. What cracks me up is how some parents can complain all day long on the ills of "kids these days", but they couldnt tell you where their kids are, what their kids did in school today, what tv show their kids are watching, or what website/ game their kids are playing on the computer in their own room with the door shut. So I guess my response to whats up with kids these days is that their parents are raising them to be that way. Theres no doubt being a parent is hard, but most people I see wanted babies, not kids. If there were a test that had to be passed to have kids, our population would be drastically different. A boy can dream.;)

Damn, come to Fort Lauderdale or even better Miami. You'll see the largest population of "fabulous life" posers in the world. Too bad you can't see the enormous pile of debt that they drag aound. It's not just the kids either. People in their late 20's early 30's still living at mommy and daddy's driving a Lexus, buying $500 bottles of booze at the fancy nightclubs. It is really the WORST thing about living here. The stuck-up, faux rich attitude people have here has nearly driven me to a new locale. There is a dwindling population of "real" people still here that keeps me around.
The funny thing is, I know a few very wealthy people here and they are the last people who will flaunt their wealth. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were regular working slobs like me.

I lived in Naples,Fl and they have some of the most obnoxious people you can find. I've been all over and have never seen so many of these fake i'm fabulous creatons anywhere. Most of them are average lower middle class who live in rural collier county and have refinanced the house twice to pay for there "lifestyle" and are now being forclosed on.... I just got back from Naples yesterday to visit family and its unbelieveable how many forclosures are in the area. A house that was 300k a few years ago could be bought for 60k now. They bought a house 12 years ago for 110k and then everyone wants to be in naples the house is worth 450k so instead of selling and moving they refinance themselves into a 2600 a month mortgage and cant afford the payments.

Well Said! You should need a license/IQ test to use ur pecker, and not the joke of a test you have to take to drive either.
...some teens just need their baggy jeans and crooked hats smacked back on them correctly and their fukken ipods ripped out of their ears!

That is how you tell the real millionaires from the fake ones. The real ones you would never know they had a nickel to their name.
