The server responded with an error. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'HTTP', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

Hi...I know how to fix that but tell me what Internet Service provider you are using comcast, verizon, optimum online or time warner road runner or anyone else if you let me know I can help you. You have to set up your incoming and outgoing servers....

I am on the phone with road runner right now for you...they need to know your email address for road runner because there are 3 different incoming and outgoing servers...can you send it now and she will give me the correct server for your area. You need that in order to use outlook express.

First you have to set up an email address with Road Runner
then you need to put the correct incoming pop and outgoing smpt servers in under the options tab.
They gave me 3 but I think I might know the right one:
In the options set up there is a place for you to put the incoming pop server which should be this
pop-server.roadrunner.com
In the outgoing smpt server which should be
smpt-server.roadrunner.com
You need to have the correct servers in order to use outlook express.
The other 2 sets she gave me have an nyc in them so I tend to think those are for NYC email servers.
There is also a spot to put a check mark in something that says
my outgoing server (smpt) requires authentication
most of the servers in my area require you to put a check in the box next to that in order to send an email from outlook, I am not sure about RR...
They told me if you need help to call this number
866-321-2225 and they will walk you through it.
I just got right through so if that doesn't work they can help they were very nice....

why not just set up your yahoo account for pop3, that way you can use outlook or IE and keep the same email address. You also have the option to keep a copy of your yahoo mail on the yahoo servers so if you're out and you want to check email via the web you can still do that as well.

Ok, one last question...now I get this....
Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'pop-server.roadrunner.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR An authentication mechanism MUST be entered', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18
Thanks again..Johnny

Hey Johnny,
I think you checked the wrong box. The one that you have to check is
my outgoing server (smpt) requires authentication not the log on using secure password authentication (SPA). Make sure your on the tab that says outgoing server.
