Aluminum won't deform or collapse, plastic won't corrode.

The nice thing about aluminum for fuel tanks is that a good tank company can usually make any shape you want, not the case with plastic tanks. As far as structural integrity I think I would vote for aluminum.

Look at Jazz products for plastic fuel tanks. I have one in my Mirage that has worked well.

I've used Jaz tanks for years with no issues...They make drag tanks with bottom knock outs that are sure nice. I always ordered my clear and with OUT foam...

I use the polymer ones.. Seems to not sweat as bad causing condensate.. Might just be my imagination..I even have a 2 1/2 gal clear Pro Stock Car Jaz tank attached to my run stand feeding both a holley red for carb motors and a Bosch Drag motor pump for the fuelies...

I've had aluminum tanks crack at the welds more times than I can remember. That was under extreme conditions, but I'll never buy one again.

plastic..................... with 2days fuels condensation is the enemy.... aluminum sweats to much....... may not be bad in a small tank for drags, but that is it 4 me.... plastic....
