Anybody know anything about this gearcase

I have never seen one like this. I was thinking maybe the predecessor to the CLE. It doesn't have any water intakes on the cone just in the normal spot. But they're a little different. The tip of the cone doesn't look like it was cast as part of the case. It had some numbers stamped on it but wasn't sure what they were, other than I'm assuming one of them is the ratio.

15:28 = 1.87:1 gear ratio.

If you are going to use the lower unit, I'd recommend welding the, nubby little, cone on. I lost a few of them until we started welding them on. I doubt you could get one from Merc anymore.
