Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban (http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6960824&page=1)

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.
Nice logic from this p.o.s. Holder.
We can't stop illegals from practically wandering across our border, but somehow a law enforced on all Americans will magically keep guns from going the other way to Mexico?
Besides, wtf do the drug cartels in Mexico have anything to do with our Constitutional rights?
These are some backward times we are living in

We can no longer assume.
Obama's administration is doing things quickly and without the transparency that was promised.
And before you know it..it's too late.
Write your Congress person, join the NRA and your state's gun owners rights group.

These stinkin fools don't have a clue. It has been proven time and time again that gun control does NOT reduce crime. Its simple reasoning how, by keeping firearms out of the hands of law abiding citizens is it going to reduce crime. Honestly, do these imbaciles think that a criminal with intent to commit a felony is concerned with some fluff gun charge also being added? As for the assault weapons their used in a miniscule percentage of crimes in this country. Most criminals don't have the money to afford them. And for gun traffic to Mexico It seems that the majority of weapons I have seen there being used by the cartels are Soviet/ Russian types including RPG's.

Write your Congress person, join the NRA and your state's gun owners rights group.

ABSOLUTELY!!
Don't assume someone else will take care of these issues.

Justifying this nonsense with Mexico's crime problem. Amatuer hour....I don't remember who said it but this is exactly what you get when college professors and bureaucrats are in charge. They don't understand the Constitution....they don't know how to run a hotdog cart.

the gun grabbers will use any tactic. look into the 2 new measures that it looks like they have already passed @ congress.gov
1 is aimed at under 21 crowd and not allowing access to assault weapons which may very well mean any weapon with a detach mag. (your standard bolt action browning a-bolt falls into this group )

u right we cannot assume that they have their hands tied cause they dont. example: 850billion 850,000,000,000.00 piss away without a single republican vote. it aint good.
write to all members of congress !

A politicians inherent instinct for self preservation is a powerful motivator.

Reid joins Pelosi in opposing weapons ban revival (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/reid-joins-pelosi-in-opposing-weapons-ban-revival-2009-02-26.html)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will join Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in opposing any effort to revive the 1994 assault weapons ban, putting them on the opposite side of the Obama administration.

The news caught Capitol Hill by surprise, immediately pitting Democrats and Republicans against each other and even exposing deep divides among Democrats. A number of House Democrats lost their seats after being targeted by the National Rifle Association for voting for the 1994 ban.

Hmmm "assault riflle" is mentioned a total of five times including the headline, yet the actual make and model are never named once.
Maybe "assault rifle" is the brand name?
None the less, the mystery rifle got top billing over the accused and his victims.
Now thats fairness in reporting.

Did you notice this part.

Quote``Ybarra previously was acquitted in a fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in 2005. Officials said that shooting occurred within a block of the latest deaths.``

Side note as of yet the guns that were supposed to be from the United states have yet to have had their serial numbers tracked to see the point of origin and purchase. Also even if the weapons were U.S. made they are most likely sold to the Mexican govt. under contract and bought or stolen from the Mex military to the cartels by underpaid soldiers.
Where is John Gault?

If I hit you with my black powder rifle, have I magically transformed it into an assault rifle?

I use the word "magically" because it's that kind of quality that liberals try to convince you a certain type of weapon has that makes it intrinsically evil when really it's the person that employs that weapon that makes the decision.

Liberals don't believe individuals should be accountable so they vilify inanimate objects. It's the height of stupidity. Talking on a phone while driving has killed many more people than any funny looking automatic loading rifle and you don't see them trying to register them and put safety locks on them before they're confiscated.
