View Full Version : Repowering the Bigobass 25 Talon SKULL BOAT!
WILDMAN

Bigobass just could'nt get by with a 94 mph boat, so he decided to repower with 300 Promaxes. This was the "Skull boat" that was for sale last year out of Canada. It had 225 Promaxes. I sold him a pair of 300's off a 25 Liberator I have. The Liberator will get 300X motors or new 300XS motors. Here's some pics of the swap.
Here's what it looked like before

Finally got the wingplates today. We put them on and took the Talon out for a spin. There was a problem with the trim so we could'nt get the max out of it. You can see how flat the rooster is at speed. The boat handles great and still ran 102. I'll let Brad do the highspeed testing. Here's a video and some pics

I don't understand the point of those "spacer bars" being bolted in place right against hte wingplate, seems it would place less stress on the bolts to have them above the spacers and rams/tiebars, instead of below just acting like a washer. It would seem to reduce the leverage on the bolts and also put them in a double sheer situation instead of single sheer, but I've never seen a setup like that before so I don't know.

They are Marine Machine, so I'm sure they've done their homework. I'd imagine they are that way because they have had occasions where the "ear" may bend under extreme conditions. They retail for $895 each!

Not doubting just surprised. If you were to take that peice and flip it around and bolt it over the ram and over the tie bar i would think it would add a lot more strength. Single shear bolts on steering parts scares me (my own boat included)
