Finally got my boat! '06 Pulsare 2100 BR w/Yami 300 HPDI

Took her out for the maiden voyage today. Only about 60 degress out so it was a bit chilly, but was a whole bunch of fun! :D

Be back out tomorrow too.

Nice Pulsare. I want one too. Any pics of the setback on this? What kind of numbers so far? How's it run/drive up on the pad?

Interior pics appreciated.

Any chance you store this in a garage, and any idea how long it is on the trailer. ???

My first time out on it today with a factory Yami 25P prop I hit 74 with ease but it got squirrely... rough water and real windy out. Hoping to find a 29P prop and see what I can get. ~85 will make me happy and should be obtainable.

I'll get some more pics tomorrow of everything for ya. Setback is just a 5" plate, but seems to work well. Too big of a motor to stick waaaaay back there. #'s were 74mph and had to get out of it, but it got there in a hurry with more left. I need to prop it better too. Drives/cruises great. Took it out in the big water (gulf o mexico) and it handled the waves with ease. Trimmed it down a bit and let'r eat! :D

I though I might be able to get it kiddy corner in the garage, but nooo stinking way! :nonod: This thing is much bigger than I really thought it was gonna be. Front of tongue to rear of motor I'd guess around 28-30 ft... Need to find a carport to set up for it now.

I have mine on a single axle C-Hawk trailer. I run 13 1/2" of setback(soon moving to 15 1/2") From very front of trailer hitch to furthest point on engine is 26'. 28' would give you a little front and back.

300HP and correct setup will put you close to 90GPS. Search it out there's a couple of guys here pushing the 300HP Pulsares into the 90's.

I'd setback atleast 12+" and get your propshaft up to above pad. Not sure on your lower unit ? Do you have a low water pick up ? You might want to try a 4 blade prop. You'd be surprised how much less walk you'll experience. Jack it up, set it back and you'll tame the chinewalk in no time.

Good Luck and be safe !

Careful exceeding speeds of 82+- without a coned lower. I ran my hopped 225 with a shot of nitrous to 84.5GPS but I had already experienced blowouts in the low 80's running a stock Fleetmaster lower.

Thanks hotbeek. What size prop you running? I've got a 25P and seems small... hoping to find a 29P to try out before I buy one.

Yes, the Yami has a low water pickup on it. Not quite as effecient as the Merc's though.

I currently run a lab finished Trophy Plus 27. Next year with a slight increase in HP that was added over winter, I hope to turn a Bravo 1 28. I turn my Trophy around 6300 rpms I'd like to drop down to around 6000. The Trophy prop is a 13 3/4" diameter while the Bravo props are 15 1/4" diameter. The Bravo prop will give better bite at the higher propshaft dimensions. Hydromotive also makes a great prop in the Quad IV X-OB.

I would guess you'd be turning anything 28-30 pitch. The guys running 90+ are running 28-30's.

I currently run a lab finished Trophy Plus 27.

I have been very happy with my Trophy's....27 Plus has been my fav.......the numbers....speed vs. RPM in the midrange is unreal.....it acts more like a 30p in the mid to near top end speeds, then it turns back into a 27 again....(speed vs RPM)

I base all this on a prop chart that I have, (paper chart) that is figured using 10% slip......did you know a 36 pitch prop at 10% slip at 10,000 RPM's is 164 MPH?

I'd be curious to see where you're at with your propshaft to pad height. I'm guessing you may be very conservative there ?

Trim/jack your engine to where you get your topspeed. Lay a straight edge on the center of your pad(squared off area at the bottom of your hull) run that straight edge out to propshaft center/nose of the drive. See what the difference is.

or measure distance from ground to pad and compare with distance from ground to propshaft/ nose of lower unit.

Will do tomorrow before I go out. It's a manual jack plate and running it as I got it setup from the dude I bought it from... Figured I'd have a weekend of fun before I started tinkering with everything.

Wanna let me borrow that 27P Trophy:D

Make sure the pad is level and the (propshaft/cavitation plate) is level........(use a bubble level) to get an accurate measurement.

Or you could just buy the 27 that I used once on my Pulsare. It didn't work (I have a different gear ratio than you)

Oh yeah, I have a great box to ship it in thanks to Hotbeek . J/K LOL:thumbsup:

You will need a Flo-torque hub kit (removable hub, separate from the prop itself) that fits the prop-shaft on your yami. Make sure you get the right FT hub for your application!

Do a search, there are some guys on this site selling them for a nice price that will get you the proper unit.

Hope this helps.

BadBK- Congradulations, that is one sharp boat! My favorite prop on my 2100BR/ 300X was a labbed 26' Trophy and best speed was a Merc 28' ET.

Good luck-

BK, you will need more setback. With a big heavy motor I would use a stationary 8" setback bracket with a hyd. jackplate. Stainless Marine makes some great stuff. I would also check out the options for low water pickups on the big Yammi. I'm not familiar with that lower unit...you want to make sure you maintain good water pressure when you raise the motor. You will definitly need to go up in prop size..27-30 pitch depending on application. Most Pulsare owners lean towards the Trophy Plus. You should exceed 85 MPH with 300 HP. I bet the last owner traded it in because it scared him and he didn't know about setup!! lol:D

Thanks:thumbsup: Setback and hyd jack plate are gonna have to wait a little bit after just buying the boat:( Yami has LWP on it, I've heard not as efficient as the merc's tho. Gonna try a 28P TP and see how I like it, all I know is it has to be better than the stock 25P Yami prop. If you run across any GREAT deals on setback or jack plate let me know.

I made the same mistake as you when I bought my boat, but I got lucky, I fit in the garage corner to corner, I needed 31' even. Tongue to prop.

I may be putting my HydroDynamics 8" custom bracket up for sale. I'm expecting a 10" manual bracket Wed. You could use that with your manual to give you a pretty good setup. A hydraulic would be ideal. Many times you can find your sweet spot in height and leave it there. You can just trim in and out for hole shot and speed. The 28 Trophy's are a little different blade configuration from the 27's and smaller Trophy's. You may like it though. I tried a 28 with double vent holes and some blade work. It was a GOOD prop.

Great that the Yammi has low water pickups. Raise the jackplate so that the prop shaft is about 1.5" inches below the pad, throw the Trophy Plus 28 on the boat, take it up to speed with the motor trimmed in and then slowly bump up the trim button while watching your water pressure....ps...hold on tight!
