Well, the old standby Spanky motor is off the boat for the last time. Been a good 3 years since the cases were split. Taking it apart now to see what it looks like inside. Looks like I won the last race on 5 cylinders:eek:

Sometimes 6000 and 5 cylinders is all ya need;)
It's down to the bare block. Crank & bearings still look new.

Is that a home made setback?
Mid looks lovely. Didnt know those pans were made out of 2 parts.

Ah, that was funny! He just shoved me out of the way and grabbed the hone. No, this one always went back on when I popped one of the other motors. The first race of last year I blew a different motor. This one went on and it's been there ever since. It's been pretty indestructible. This was the one that I took down to Wayne's before the first Chattahoochee race that year. He built me some heads, and offered some of his invaluable advice. One thing I'll never forget is him saying: "Rod cap alignment tool? You've got to be ****ting me!".

I think the setback bracket is home made, but I don't know who did it. It was on the boat when I got it. The mid is an old F1 V8 OMC piece. The pans are one piece. It's always amazed me that no one has made 2-piece pans, so I got the saw out. I'll never have a one piece pan again....
