Hey guys,
I'm in tough spot. For over a month now, I have been reading reviews and trying to gather info on the D300 and D90. My dilemma is I want the D300, but I know its predecessor is on the way (maybe this summer). The D90 has great pic quality reviews, but i prefer a metal housing.

Anyone have the inside scoop on when the new D400 may be out?

Should I just get the D90 and use it until the D400 is available, or get the D300 and worry about my pics more than the "latest and greatest camera" that hasn't even been announced.

Thanks in advance for all comments

if you start the waiting game it will never end. the d200 and better the d300 are very good cameras. i have never regreted the day i bought both. the 300 has so many featcher to learn that you'll probably never know the difference when the 400 does come out.

im not as upon what's coming out bot the 300 has only been out a yr and i expect the 400 maybe another year out. the d3x just hit the market and i'm guessing the next camera will be the consumer low cost models.

get the 300 and you'll have 6+months of shooting with a good camera. the 300 is very fast and a low lite camera i cant see what the 400 could add.

I have been waiting for a D300 since I was 18. I am at 55 and just couldn't wait any longer. So early last year I bought the D300 along with a 18-200vr. That was the best thing I have done. A lot of camera and good lens. I still haven't got to know it all but it's coming. For Xmass I gave myself a 17-55. Wow, what a difference, family pictures are real nice. I just came in side with a test of my new 70-200vr. I am still trying to put my eyes back in the sockets. It left me speechless. Then I put on the teleconverter TC-17EII.....My O My! Time is precious, don't loose it. Have fun and learn.

dave but your self a good flash next. either the nikon sb-600 or 800. the vr lens allows you low lite for static objects but does work on moving ones. the 800 takes the rapid flash acepts the external battery pack.

Unless you're a professional, the D90 and D300 will likely be more camera than you'll ever need.
