Merc V6 Side play

Question: Is there any way to take out side play between the tilt casting and the clamp brackets on my 78 1750? The solid mounts and new lower yoke really tightened everything else up. Now the only play left is in the tilt tube area.

He uses strips of UHMW plastic glued to the bracket to take up the clearance. Mike, jump in here!;)

Not sure I understand exactly if its the same as my set up but I took the side play out of mine by tightening the steering cable tube that the motor actully pivots on when you trim up

I think Balzy's trick came from Mod VP racers in the 80's. It looked like a piece of Nylon.
