2 Kicker L7 12" Subs VS. 4 JL M10IB5-4 10" marine subs

I have a bit of a decision to make here and I was hoping that someone could help guide me. First of all, I have a ton of space for a free standing enclosure in the back of my 25 Talon Center console but I was also thinking of mounting these new JL free-air subs in my console. If I built an eclosure for the back I would wrap it in fiberglass and paint it with Awlgrip so it was waterproof and looked like it was supposed to be in the boat.

I'm using 2 of the the big Memphis Belle Amps with is 1300 watts with 1000 watts dedicated to the sub channel stable at 1 ohm. I have two of these amps so there is plenty of power in the system.....so here's my question....

Use a sealed?? or vented??? custom enclosure with the Kicker L7 12" subs or use 4 of the The M10IB5-4 10" free-air marine subs in the console (which is pretty big) but not air tight???

I also have 8 polyplanar 6x9's that will run off of the other 4 chanels of both Memphis amps.

Any suggestions or experience with either???

What type of bass are you going for? Is weight much of an issue?

As far as power, I would assume that is way too much power to throw at those free-air subs, I don't know JL's specs, but usually free air set ups don't require that much power, so a sub designed for it probably won't need/allow for that much power.

If weight isn't an issue, and you want to be able to show off all out bass, the the L7's with a vented box will be the best choice. If you want a bit more clarity and smaller box, go with the L7 and a sealed box. Those JL's wont be able to keep up with the L7's and 1000 watts each (peak, not rms i assume?)

I will have plenty available that would please just about anyone....I'm looking for total sickness on this go around.:D:D:D

I have several Alpine Amps, and two seperate MTX Thunder sub enclosures with 10 and 12" subs, everything was new last summer so they are all in good shape. I can hook a brother up.

I have considered four L7 12" subs with 2 of them sealed and two vented....that may just be the best of both worlds. I was hoping to have that PUNCH that you get with sealed enclosures but retain the level of a vented enclosure. Wonder how that would work??

I could always do just two L7's with 1000watts going to each and seal one of the openings.

Just thinking right now.
