Well, I had hoped to keep my new boat purchase a bit more of a secret, but everybody knew about it when I went out to the island last Thursday, so I figured I would spill the beans here. I'll post some photos as we go along as this is a bit of a project boat. This photo shows the boat sitting on Bob Albee's River Racer trailer. Eagle has a pattern for the River Racer, but not one for the QuarterMaster, so we put it on his trailer and I was able to take some digital photos and measurements and Eagle is building the trailer off that info. They're a GREAT company to work with and build a BEAUTIFUL trailer, so if anybody needs a great trailer, let me know and I'll hook you up.

Notice the Hustler Shooting Star with the V4 looper (under the V6 cowl). That's our buddy Don's boat with the custom shorty midsection, open exhaust snout - good runnin' boat. Ran 70 on our 1/2 mile long lake. It's just waitin' for some paint and that boat will be kick ass.

First thing we did was flip the boat over and add strakes to the outside sponsons. These are normally flat and that causes the boat to "stick" a little when it first falls on plane as the water travels and sticks to the entire sponson. We put these on to peel the water away. They don't touch when the boat is running down at top end.

I wish I had a billet aluminum handled block. Sam you should try sandind the hard way. Wrap your sand paper around paint mixing sticks. You'll never have any fingure prints again

My brother has all these inventions from when he worked at hydrostream. That block works slick. We use it to get into th corners where the bottom meets the strake, etc. We use adhesive backed paper so you don't even need to glue it on or anything, the stuff comes in a roll and you just tear off the length you need and slap it on the block and get going. Of course the pneumatic DA sander is God's Gift to boat building.

Sam,
Lookin' good, really good. When will it be ready to play with in the water? Anyway you can tell us what you are using for power..Merc, OMC?

Man, I really do like that handle on the sanding block:D

Sam,
Welcome back to the Mirage fold........Nice QMaster. How's the
workmanship? How much does it weigh?
Good idea on the strakes........should help break the boat loose
and stabilize it down the course.
Regards,
Steve;)

The boat is good. There's one blem in that they didn't cut down a bulkhead quite enough and it pushes out on the deck just a tad, but it's better that way than no bulkhead at all. Weight wise, it's right at about 500 lbs. I didn't want it much lighter because I'm not trying to run Pro Fuel.

As for power, it's gettin' the Mercury Drag Motor. I'm hoping to have it ready for Ottawa on 8/24. Have lots to rig. I ordered it with absolutely nothing, so it's getting cable pulley steering, digital delay box, jack plate, batteries, Digatron 40 series display, stainless trim gauge, fuel system, custom formula 1 trim ram setup...oh and a fuel tank!

Anybody want to come over and help?

Sam,
I'd love to help. That's the kindo f stuff I really like to do (its the troubleshooting I have a problem with)
Sounds like it really will be an awsome rig. Bob mentioned that you were rigging it and hoping to be at Jasper, but didn't really say what it was gonna have and all...kept a pretty good secret

Sam:
All that sounds great. You're trying to cram into 3 weeks what it
took me all winter to do, and I'm still not done!
Tear 'em up at Ottawa. I've got a race "here" in Lexinton, TN
(MSDBA/SLDBA) that same weekend. We'll share results.
Good luck,
Steve

Nice looking boat Sam. Does this one look similar? This pict was taken with it running at 70 mph. Top speed is reported well over 100 mph!

Sooooooooooooo that's why I didn't hear from you anymore! Nice boat. Sam I have a trade deal in the works for my QuarterShot, so if you know anyone in the market for a Valero YT(4800.00) I will have an extra one.

No, I was looking at your boat as a "family" boat. This one has been on order for a couple of months. We ran into a snag in that our house was sold, then the deal fell through. I was going to tag some of that excess cash to buy your boat. It was supposed to close a couple of weeks after we last spoke. Back on the market again....
