please excuse me for my lack of knowledge but please clarify exactly what this refers to and how to measure to determine which one i have i believe they are refering to the intermediate area between the motor and the lower unit and also if you know how to tell a 2.4 from a 2.5 i was going to do some modifications to my engine but have decided to buy another and rebuildit similar to the current project on the forum thanks everyone on this forum has been very helpfull

actually those numbers refer to the transom height that they were intended for. if you measure yours and post the measurement somebody will tell you which one you have. most likely will be a 20. there by far the most common. as for the 2.4 or 2.5. what year is your motor. i think the easiest way to tell is to take a clear picture from three or four feet away of the powerhead with the cowl off and post it. same goes for the mid. you could post a pic of your motor from the side and it could be quickly identified. if you have problems posting pics you can e-mail them to me at
